Michael Novotny became the Salado Independent School District's superintendent of schools in June 2011.
Before coming to Salado, Dr. Novotny served as the superintendent of the Moulton Independent School District for three years.
Prior to that, he was in the Plano Independent School District for twelve years as a teacher, special education coordinator, high school assistant principal, and high school principal.
Dr. Novotny earned his bachelor's degree and his first master's degree from Bethel University. He earned his second master's degree and his doctorate degree from the University of North Texas.
Dr. Novotny has taught educational administration courses at the University of Houston - Victoria, Texas A&M - Central Texas, Concordia University, and the University of Mary Hardin - Baylor.
He and his wife, Laura, have three sons - Andrew, Ryan, and Thomas. Andrew is in 5th grade at Salado Intermediate School, Ryan is in 2nd grade at Thomas Arnold Elementary School, and Thomas will be starting kindergarten in another year.
